The 79th issue of the Weekly Economic Bulletin, prepared by the Economic Research Unit of the Department of Economics at Ibn Haldun University, has been released. This issue covers budget performance, the housing market, foreign trade figures, and major developments in the global economy.
According to the highlights, Türkiye’s central government budget posted a surplus of TRY 114.2 billion in June, while the primary balance recorded a surplus of TRY 315.8 billion. Nevertheless, the budget deficit for the first half of the year reached TRY 942.8 billion.
In Türkiye, first-hand home sales increased by 23.1% year-on-year to 43,406 in June, while second-hand home sales rose by 12.5% to 86,573. In addition, a legislative proposal to increase the minimum pension from TRY 20,000 to TRY 23,552 was approved by the Planning and Budget Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and is expected to become law following approval by the General Assembly.
The U.S. federal government posted a budget deficit of $120 billion in June, lower than market expectations. However, during the first nine months of the fiscal year, the cumulative budget deficit rose by 2% year-on-year to $1.367 trillion.
In the European Union, exports increased by 1.1% year-on-year to €215.7 billion in May, while imports rose by 10.8% to €227.8 billion, resulting in a trade deficit of €12.1 billion. The Euro Area also recorded a trade deficit of €7.8 billion during the same period.
Twenty-nine countries, including Russia, decided to join the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) established under China’s leadership. Founding members also include major emerging economies such as Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Laos.
On Friday, spot gold traded at around $3,995 per ounce, while gram gold was priced at approximately ₺6,057.
