The 78th issue of the Weekly Economic Bulletin, focusing on population statistics, industrial production, inflation expectations, and major developments in the global economy, has been released.

The 78th issue of the Weekly Economic Bulletin, prepared by the Economic Research Unit of the Department of Economics at Ibn Haldun University, has been released. This issue covers population statistics, industrial production, inflation expectations, and major developments in the global economy.

According to the highlights, the 2026 World Population Day statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) showed that Türkiye, with a population of 86,092,168, ranked 18th among 194 countries, accounting for approximately 1% of the world's total population.

In Türkiye, industrial production declined by 2.9% month-on-month in May, while remaining unchanged on an annual basis. April figures were revised upward to 3.8% monthly growth and 6.1% annual growth.

According to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Survey of Consumer Expectations, the median one-year-ahead inflation expectation in the United States rose to 3.7% in June, reaching its highest level since September 2023.

In the European Union, the Producer Price Index (PPI) increased by 0.2% month-on-month and 5.7% year-on-year in May. In the Euro Area, PPI rose by 0.2% monthly and 5.9% annually, exceeding market expectations on a yearly basis.

According to data from the Bank of Japan (BOJ), the Producer Price Index (PPI) increased by 7.1% year-on-year in June, surpassing market expectations and marking the strongest annual increase since March 2023.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Novak announced a ban on diesel exports aimed at increasing fuel supply in the domestic market.

On Friday, spot gold traded at around $4,098 per ounce, while gram gold was priced at approximately ₺6,190.
