The 73rd issue of the Weekly Economic Bulletin, prepared by the Economic Research Unit of the Department of Economics at Ibn Haldun University, has been released. This issue examines Türkiye’s economic growth performance, inflation data, and major developments in the global economy.

According to the highlights, the Turkish economy grew by 2.5% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, while quarterly growth stood at 0.1%.

According to the 2025 Household Budget Survey conducted by the Turkish Statistical Institute, housing and rent expenditures accounted for the largest share of household consumption spending at 29.3%. They were followed by transportation expenditures at 20.5% and food and non-alcoholic beverages at 17.3%.

In Türkiye, consumer inflation increased by 32.61% year-on-year and 1.71% month-on-month in May. Producer prices rose by 28.93% annually and 2.75% monthly during the same period.

In the United States, factory orders increased by 4.8% in April compared to the previous month, reaching $662.7 billion. The figure exceeded market expectations of a 4.6% increase.

In the European Union, the Producer Price Index (PPI) increased by 0.7% month-on-month and 4.9% year-on-year in April. In the Euro Area, PPI rose by 0.6% monthly and 4.8% annually, in line with market expectations.

The government of Japan approved an additional $19.4 billion budget package aimed at supporting households. The package includes the establishment of a ¥2.5 trillion reserve fund to help offset the effects of rising commodity prices.

On Friday, spot gold traded at around $4,462 per ounce, while gram gold was priced at approximately ₺6,610.
