The 72nd issue of the Weekly Economic Bulletin, prepared by the Economic Research Unit of the Department of Economics at Ibn Haldun University, has been released. This issue focuses on foreign trade data, the global inflation outlook, and recent developments in international economies.

According to the highlights, in Türkiye, exports increased by 22.3% year-on-year in April to $25.408 billion, while imports rose by 3.1% to $33.909 billion. Accordingly, the foreign trade deficit declined by 29.8% annually, falling from $12.112 billion to $8.5 billion.

Minutes from the April meeting of the Federal Reserve System (Fed) revealed that most officials could reconsider interest rate hikes if inflation risks become persistent.

In the Euro Area, annual inflation rose from 2.6% in March to 3% in April, while monthly inflation stood at 1%. Across the European Union, annual inflation reached 3.2%, with monthly inflation recorded at 0.9%. Among major European economies, annual inflation stood at 2.9% in Germany, 2.5% in France, 2.8% in Italy, and 3.5% in Spain.

In China, industrial production increased by 4.1% year-on-year in April. However, this figure remained below both the 5.7% growth recorded in March and the market expectation of 5.9%.

In Japan, headline inflation eased to 1.4% in April, remaining below the Bank of Japan (BOJ)’s 2% target for the fourth consecutive month.

On Friday, spot gold traded at around $4,522 per ounce, while gram gold was priced at approximately ₺6,646.
