Our Economics Department hosted Dr. Nur Surayya Mohd Saudi for the Strategic Self-Reliance Seminar held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Teoman Duralı Conference Hall.
Dr. Nur Surayya Mohd Saudi serves as a Senior Lecturer at the National Defence University of Malaysia (NDUM) and a Senior Fellow at the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER). During the event, she delivered a talk titled “Building Strategic Self-Reliance: Defence Industrialisation, Innovation, and National Resilience in Emerging Economies”. In her presentation, she shared insights on the experience of Malaysia as an ASEAN developing economy in strengthening technological capability, human capital, and defence industrial development while also promoting sustainable economic growth.
The seminar offered participants an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between defence industrialisation, innovation, and long-term national resilience in emerging economies.
The event provided a valuable platform for academic exchange and discussion among faculty members, students, and guests.
