The 64th issue of the Weekly Economic Bulletin, prepared by the Economic Research Unit of the Department of Economics at Ibn Haldun University, has been released. This issue examines developments in financial markets, inflation expectations, and global energy markets.

According to highlights from the bulletin, in Türkiye, the highest real monthly return in February was recorded in the BIST 100 Index, yielding 7.61% when deflated by producer prices and 7.06% when deflated by consumer prices.

According to the March Market Participants Survey of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye, the 12-month-ahead inflation (CPI) expectation increased slightly from 22.10% to 22.17%.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported in its March 2026 Short-Term Energy Outlook that the average price of Brent crude oil is expected to reach $78.84 per barrel this year. In the previous report, the estimate was $57.69 per barrel.

The near halt of commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and the suspension of production at a QatarEnergy Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility negatively affected European energy prices. Vladimir Putin stated that if the Strait of Hormuz were closed, oil production in the region could come to a complete halt, adding that Russia would be ready to resume cooperation in the energy sector if signals come from Europe.

On the last trading day of the week, spot gold traded at around $5,068 per ounce, while gram gold was priced at approximately ₺7,212.
