The 85th issue of the Weekly Economic Bulletin, prepared by the Economic Research Unit of the Department of Economics at Ibn Haldun University, has been released. In this issue, global and domestic economic developments are analyzed, and up-to-date data on the Turkish, U.S., European, and Asian economies are evaluated.
According to some of the highlights from our bulletin, producer prices in Türkiye increased by 27.95% year-on-year and 2.57% month-on-month in August, while consumer prices increased by 31.51% year-on-year and 1.84% month-on-month. Following the release of the August inflation data, the ceiling rate for rent and workplace rent increases was calculated at 31.79%.
According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Türkiye's economy grew by 2.3% year-on-year in the second quarter of the year. The economy grew by 1.1% compared with the first quarter. First-quarter growth was revised from 0.1% to 0.3%.
The first-day sessions of the G20 Innovation Ministers' Meeting, held in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, under the hosting of the United States, were held. The United States called on G20 members to establish a "common principle" in emerging technologies and artificial intelligence.
According to data from the U.S. Department of Commerce, the country's goods and services trade deficit increased by 24.4% month-on-month in July to $88.6 billion. Imports increased by 2.8%, while exports decreased by 2.1% during the same period.
According to Eurostat, consumer prices in the Eurozone increased by 3.3% year-on-year in August, up from 2.9% in the previous month. This marked the highest level recorded since September 2023.
The Central Bank of Russia extended restrictions on cash foreign-currency withdrawals until March 9, 2027, due to the continued sanctions imposed by Western countries on Russian banks' access to cash U.S. dollars and euros.
On the last trading day of the week, spot gold traded at around $4,464 per ounce, while gram gold stood at approximately ₺6,949.
