The 83rd issue of the Weekly Economic Bulletin, prepared by the Economic Research Unit of the Department of Economics at Ibn Haldun University, has been released. In this issue, global and domestic economic developments are analyzed, and up-to-date data on the Turkish, U.S., European, and Asian economies are evaluated.
According to some of the highlights from our bulletin, Türkiye's Housing Price Index increased by 1.5% month-on-month in July, rising by 25.0% in nominal terms year-on-year, while declining by 5.1% in real terms.
Türkiye's unemployment rate decreased by 0.3 percentage points to 7.9% in the second quarter. The unemployment rate was estimated at 6.7% for men and 10.3% for women.
The total U.S. public debt reached $40 trillion 47 billion as of August 18, exceeding the $40 trillion level for the first time in history. The amount of debt increased by $10 trillion in less than five years.
European Central Bank (ECB) Chief Economist Philip Lane stated that the pace of increase in consumer prices in the Eurozone is expected to remain "well above" the 2% target in 2026.
According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, China's industrial production increased by 4.5% year-on-year in July, marking the first slowdown in its growth rate in three months. Retail sales growth also declined to 0.6% year-on-year during the same period, falling below expectations. Expectations had pointed to an increase of 1.5%.
On the last trading day of the week, spot gold traded at around $4,541 per ounce, while gram gold stood at approximately ₺7,017.
