The 70th issue of the Weekly Economic Bulletin prepared by the Economic Research Unit of the Department of Economics, focusing on inflation data, reserve developments, the global debt outlook, and recent developments in international markets has been released.

The 70th issue of the Weekly Economic Bulletin, prepared by the Economic Research Unit of the Department of Economics at Ibn Haldun University, has been released. This issue focuses on inflation data, reserve developments, the global debt outlook, and recent developments in international markets.

According to the highlights, in Türkiye, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 32.37% year-on-year and 4.18% month-on-month in April. The Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) rose by 28.59% annually and 3.17% monthly during the same period.

According to the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT), gross reserves declined by $5.6 billion to $165.5 billion in the week of May 1. During the same period, net reserves fell by approximately $600 million to $53.7 billion, while net reserves excluding swaps declined by around $116 million.

The United States Department of the Treasury raised its borrowing estimate for the second quarter of 2026 by $79 billion to $189 billion.

In the European Union, the Producer Price Index (PPI) increased by 3.2% month-on-month and 2% year-on-year in March. In the Euro Area, PPI rose by 3.4% monthly and 2.1% annually, exceeding market expectations.

According to the “Global Debt Monitor” report published by the Institute of International Finance (IIF), global debt increased by more than $4.4 trillion in the first quarter of the year, reaching a record high of $353 trillion.

On Friday, spot gold traded at around $4,719 per ounce, while gram gold was priced at approximately ₺6,886.
